WE ARE SCOTTISH ROGUE
Unique Whisky Experiences in a Unique City
About Scottish Rogue
Going Rogue means doing something in a way that disregards the rules or the usual way of doing things.
At Scottish Rogue, we champion Scotch whisky and our home city of Glasgow while embracing new drinkers and new ways of promoting the drink.
Scotch whisky is often marketed as an exclusive product accessible only to the select few, but Scotland’s national spirit should be for everyone. Scottish Rogue strives for accessibility and inclusivity. We work to break down the stuffiness of Scotch.

Putting Glasgow on the Whisky Map
We are proud of our home town, but too many visitors disregard it in favour of other destinations. We want to establish Glasgow as an internationally recognised whisky destination.
This city is a bustling cultural hub with fantastic restaurants and phenomenal music (UNESCO City of Music 2024). There’s a lively contemporary arts scene (Banksy chose Glasgow as the location for his Cut & Run exhibition and Yardworks is one of the largest street art festivals in Europe). It is also home to a world-class selection of whisky bars and distilleries.

Two distilleries currently operate in the city: Glasgow and The Clydeside. Out by East Kilbride, you’ll find the family-owned Jackton distillery. At Duntocher, lies Auchentoshan and near Killearn, at the foot of Dumgoyne Hill stands Glengoyne. Travel a little further and you could encounter distilleries as diverse as Deanston, Tullibardine, Glenturret, Rosebank and Loch Lomond. All can be reached within an hour’s drive of the city.
This combination of diverse distilleries, well-stocked bars, thriving music, culture and arts scenes combined with the city’s long and storied past make Glasgow the perfect location for a unique and immersive whisky experience.
Scotland’s Largest City is Scotch Whisky’s Best-Kept secret.
Making Whisky Inclusive
Making whisky inclusive is one of the main goals of Scottish Rogue. We care about our country’s whisky industry, and we want to protect it and encourage growth. To do that, we must help to break down long-established barriers.
We meet lots of women who have come to Scotland, many as solo travellers. They have a passionate interest in the country and see a whisky experience as central to their visit. We consider it a privilege but also a great responsibility to work with them.
It’s important these women (and all of our attendees) leave Scotland feeling valued, with their interest in whisky not only encouraged but enhanced.

About Scotch Whisky
Scotch whisky is the finest spirit in the world. People from all over the world connect deeply with it, and they want to delve deeper, to visit the place it is made and meet the people who make it.
At Scottish Rogue, we forge those connections. We introduce people to the world of whisky and enhance their relationship with the spirit and the country of its birth. Experienced and new drinkers alike will find new perspectives and a deeper understanding of whisky and its place in Scottish culture.
The story of Scotch whisky is the story of Scotland. We share that rich history and drive deeper connections with the spirit.

MEET THE SCOTTISH ROGUE TEAM

NEILL MURPHY
I’m a writer, a blogger and a whisky lover. In 2015, I started writing about whisky on my website A Scot on Scotch.
I was co-host of the Quaich Podcast and have written for the SMWS, The Bottle Club, Distillando and Bevvy.com and since 2020, it has been my great pleasure to serve as Kinship Host for the Islay Whisky Academy.
I successfully completed the Scotch Whisky Trail Certificate Course in 2014 and followed that up in 2016 by becoming a certified Whisky Ambassador.
Welcoming people to Glasgow and Scotland, introducing them to Scotch and enhancing their enjoyment of the spirit is my greatest passion in life.
JOHN MCGUIRE
Hi, I’m John. After spending much of my career traveling abroad, I’ve been continually struck by just how much Scotland and, particularly, Scotch whisky means to people around the world.
Scotch is more than just our national drink—it’s a source of pride, the lifeblood of communities, and an integral part of our culture. More importantly, it’s at the heart of people coming together and having a great time!
Like Neill, I’m passionate about making the world of Scotch accessible to everyone. We’re committed to sharing the passion and heritage of Scotch whisky far and wide, doing so in ways that reflect the same rebellious (rogue) spirit of the early whisky makers who dared to do things differently.
