Clydeside Distillery Unveils New Whisky Bar

Glasgow’s Clydeside Distillery has unveiled its new whisky bar. The “elegant and relaxed” bar is the result of a refurbishment of the distillery’s cafe and offers a selection of beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, hot beverages and light bites – as well as whisky, of course. Guests will be invited to savour neat serves, curated whisky flights and inventive cocktails.
Bridgeen Mullen, Visitor Centre Manager, said: “Our new whisky bar is a warm, inviting space where visitors can explore our classic Lowland style whiskies and exclusive releases, as well as drams from other regions of Scotland. We’re delighted to share this news with Glasgow and beyond.”
Dál Riata Distillery Secures Building Warrant

Dál Riata Distillery is the work of Iain Croucher and Ronnie Grant. The two men set their mind to opening a new Campbeltown distillery in 2021 and though planning permission was granted two years later, it has taken a bit longer for the building warrant to come through.
Finally, on 5th June 2025, Argyll & Bute Council has given its approval for construction work to begin.
Ronnie Grant, said: “There is no better whisky town in Scotland than Campbeltown. We are getting to add to the wee toon’s rich distilling history with the creation of our own distillery Dál Riata.”
Iain Croucher added: “Campbeltown is magnificent in just about every way, I holiday here twice a year with my wife and kids. Just so happens it’s also my favourite Scotch Whisky region.”
Campbeltown was once home to almost thirty distilleries but changing consumer habits and the challenges of the early 20th Century saw most close down. Nowadays, however, the town is enjoying something of a rebirth. Campbeltown’s whisky has never been more beloved and Dál Riata is an eagerly anticipated addition to the Wee Toon.
New Look for Teacher’s Whisky
Teacher’s Blended Scotch has unveiled a fresh new look. According to owners Suntory Global Spirits, the new look brims with modernity yet remains anchored in timeless tradition.
More than being simply a brand refresh, this is said to be a renewed commitment to the classic taste that has defined Teacher’s for generations.
The Teacher’s brand traces it roots to the Anderston area of Glasgow. William Teacher established a grocer in 1830 before the company moved in 1871 to a new headquarters in St Enoch’s Square. The company name can still be seen on the building today.

Planning Permission Granted for Auchenbowie Distillery

Organic Architects, specialists in sustainable distilleries, has received planning permission from Stirling Council for the building of new distillery Auchenbowie.
The private whisky distillery will be in the walled garden of Auchenbowie House near Bannockburn. A laird’s house built during the 17th century, the house has hosted figures including Robert Burns in 1787 — he wrote of dining with then-owner the Munro family in his diary.
Organic Architects says the design of the distillery will balance traditional and contemporary elements. An organic garden will also be planted in the walled garden, both for biodiversity and to be used as botanicals in Auchenbowie’s spirits.
Construction on the project is expected to begin in 2026, with the aim to start spirits production in 2027.
Bari Reid, director at Organic Architects, said: “Receiving approval for this project is an important milestone, and we’re excited to begin the work of bringing the Auchenbowie walled garden back into use. For decades, this area has stood empty and overgrown — but it has immense potential. Our design celebrates the character of the site and the rich history of the estate, while also delivering something new and relevant for today.
“The distillery buildings will sit within the garden walls like elegant Victorian greenhouses. At the heart of the design is a glass house overlooking a water garden, which doubles as a cooling system for the distillation process.
“It’s a project where sustainability, heritage and craftsmanship come together — and we can’t wait to see it take shape.”
